What is the difference between subtitles and transcripts?

Subtitles are a transcript synchronized with the video or audio—they appear on screen as the content plays. Transcripts are a separate text document containing all the spoken content, accessible without needing to play the file. Both are required depending on the desired WCAG compliance level.

What regulations require accessible multimedia content?

In Spain, Royal Decree 1112/2018 requires public administrations to guarantee the accessibility of their multimedia content. At the European level, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) extends this obligation to private companies from June 2025. The reference technical standard is WCAG 2.2, which establishes specific requirements for video, audio, and live content.

Can I add subtitles to videos that are already published?

Yes. We can generate subtitle files for any published video, in the format compatible with the platform where it's hosted—YouTube, Vimeo, proprietary platforms, or others. There's no need to modify the original video.

What is audio description and when is it mandatory?

Audio description is additional narration that describes relevant visual elements in a video—actions, scenes, on-screen text—for users with visual impairments. It is mandatory for AA-level content according to WCAG 2.2, which includes all public entities and companies subject to EAA regulations.
